Big G’s ESOP

Every driver for Big G participates in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP. Being a part-owner of the company means that while you are earning a living for your family now, you are also investing in their comfort and security later by helping build a reliable, valuable brand. The better Big G does as a company, the more you stand to earn in retirement. 

Unlike other retirement plans, the ESOP is a free retirement plan with no money invested out of your pocket. The only way someone can own shares in Big G is by being an employee; no one can buy stock in the company. Drivers earn shares of the company based on their years of service and compensation, and more shares are allocated annually. We are a privately held company. The value of shares is determined by an independent valuation firm annually, which assigns a fair market value of Big G Express. The value of our company’s stock has increased every year since 2009.

Employees enter into the plan after your one-year anniversary. You are 100% vested at your three-year anniversary. All you have to do to earn shares in the company is to show up and do your job. 

When you leave the company, whether by retirement or for other reasons, as long as you are vested, distribution is paid by the end of the calendar year following the year a participant terminates employment at Big G Express. Our current distribution plan pays a lump sum if a participant is 65 years or older, upon death or 100% disability. If a participant is less than age 65 when they separate, the ESOP balance is paid 1/5th over five years.
